#211: 1/10/11 Butterfly Creek
I had never been to Butterfly Creek before, guess that wasn’t on the priorities list of places to go as a child. So this particular Saturday Rob and I headed out and unleashed the kids at heart.
This place is incredible. There was a butterfly house, a crocodile encounter, a room dedicated to creepy crawlies (which gave you the heeby jeebies I will add), an aquarium, a farm and even a kiddy train ride.

My favourite encounter was Buttermilk Farm where all the baby animals were, there were bunnies which you could hold and pet, lambs to feed milk to, goats and alpacas that pretty much swept clean your hands from seeds with their mouths, piglets, roosters, donkeys and so on.

My second favourite was the Butterfly room. These butterflies loved Rob but refused to land on me! I stayed in that hot room for a good 15 minutes determined to somehow convince them that I was waaaay better to land on than Robs ever so appealing leather jacket (he had 3 on him simultaneously at one stage)! But patience finally paid off in the end, just as we were about to leave, one landed on my head and enjoyed the view for a few minutes before fluttering away :)

We also watched Scar at the crocodile encounter. The most disturbing bit was the loud crunch as he clamped his jaw down on a pigs skull, I still shudder remembering that sound.

Us on the kiddie train
After spending a good couple of hours there, we headed to Otahuhu for lunch at Try It Out. I had the rare beef pho this time which was I-better-not-think-too-much-about-it-otherwise-I’ll-drool-on-my-keyboard amazing! Not as good as Mum and Dads though, of course ;-) I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; GO AND EAT THERE, you won’t regret it :-)
