#212: 4/10/11 - 16/10/11 Catch Up

I have all these draft entries lined up ready to start elaborating on when I have the spare time but for some reason have changed my mind every time I check my drafts folder as there are too many, so to make things easier for me and to be up to date with my recent outings, here are 13 days in ‘brief’; between Tuesday 4th October and Sunday 16th October I…

Had a well overdue catch up with Celeste over good food and wine at Goode Brothers

Sent Rob a surprise cupcake to his motel when he was away/out of Akld for work

The day after that I came down to visit him in Tauranga for the night, we walked up Mount Maunganui, had a well deserved break, spotted the Rena, then walked back down

For dinner we went to Amphora Restaurant on The Strand which is definitely one of my favourites along there serving Mediterranean / Italian food. We sat outside under the heater where you could still hear each other over the chatter inside - was molto romantico with the bella musica too.

Back in Auckland I found a corn fritters recipe and whipped up some lunch - didn’t quite look like the photo on the recipe but tasted pretty good, added in some spring onions too.

The next week was spent back and forth between Auckland and Paeroa (where Rob was working for the week), had much difficulty finding a comfortable way of sleeping together (as in, in the same bed) - night 1 was spent squished up in a king single where neither of us got any sleep, night 2 was on couch cushions on the floor in the lounge which still didn’t work and night 3 we decided just to sleep on a couch each but pushed close together :) we got there in the end lol

On the 13th, a small group of us attended a funeral which as expected was heartbreaking. The life lost was suitably described as an outgoing and bubbly one at only 21. Kisha, I hope you rest in peace and thank you for reminding us to live our lives to the fullest and to make the most of each day.

Lastly, on Sunday 16th, we hit up a cafe which I had been eyeing out - Circus Circus. The decor was fun and very circus-y as the name suggests, the filtered water was good too, but I was slightly disappointed with my dish of panfried mushrooms and bacon on multi grain toast (which I normally love) - I think the bacon used killed it for me, the toast was probably the highlight of the dish which was unfortunate for the rest of the meal. Maybe next time I will choose something else to eat.
